corn (1)UFV agriculture professor Tom Baumann says the hot weather is bringing in some early harvests, but any farms that don’t have proper irrigation are going to be in for a rough ride.
Baumann says you can already see problems with some corn crops.

“Some of the leaves are already curling up, and that’s where we don’t have irrigation available.  So I expect we’re going to lose of our feed corn and some sweet corn, but it’s coming on so fast, that I think by next week we should start seeing the first corn on the market, just in time for Canada Day.”

Baumann says the early harvests of some berry crops are also causing difficulties because now you have several berries coming at the same time, putting strain on both the picking and processing.
