(Submitted by Jill Drews)  You’ll soon need winter tires on your car if you’re heading out of the city.
Bob Gilowski with VSA Highway Maintenance reminds us the law requiring winter tires goes back into effect Thursday.

“Passenger vehicles from October 1st through to March 31st of the following year [need winter tires]. These locations are clearly marked at the entrances of the mountain passes,” he explains.

“As long as your tire has a snowflake [on the side], my understanding is that it’s an approved winter tire. Or if it has a mountain and a snowflake on the tire — then it’s an approved winter tire.”

You could end up with a fine of up to about $370 if you are caught without them.
