Abbotsford school district to launch Explozone learning centre

The Abbotsford school district will be launching a new K to 12 learning centre called Explozone at Abby Senior.

Director of Instruction Julie Rousseau says the centre will help support teachers and students through the province’s proposed new approach to learning which focuses on inquiry based learning.

“Including creative thinking, social and personal development, and communication. What we’ve discovered is, as we’re doing professional development, this shift is not an easy shift for teachers when you’ve been teaching a certain way for a long time. It’s very difficult to just change the way you teach.”

Rousseau says the centre will provide opportunities for hands on learning for students while providing support for teachers.
