Abbotsfordward-logo-300x336The most recent report on the City of Abbotsford’s Official Community Plan update lists a set of what they’re calling “Big Ideas” to guide the city through future population growth.

One of the main conclusions from background research was that most parts of the city weren’t complete neighborhoods, meaning people couldn’t live, work, and go out in the same area without having to drive across town.

To that end one of the ideas was to create distinct neighborhoods with a mix of types of housing, along with retail and restaurant options, all within easy walking or cycling distance.

Another idea is to create a city centre, which would evolve into not only an employment hub but a destination for after hours entertainment.

The City plans more consultation with the public on these Big Ideas in June.
