Abbotsford gets $400,000 in federal funding to tackle homelessness

The federal government is providing the City of Abbotsford $400,000 and change to go towards an intake and referral system for homeless people.
Abbotsford MP Ed Fast says the system will be developed based on best practices that have been effective in other communities.

“We will be working together with the Province and with the City to develop a program that we expect will become permanent.  Our funding is for a period of 3 years, after which we expect the City will take over support of the program.”

Fast says the referral will be able to target most at need for services like the soon to be built Gladys Ave supportive housing facility.
