With BC COVID numbers rising lately, we all need to make sure we’re playing it safe, while we GET OUTSIDE and GET ACTIVE!

Country 107.1 Wellness Team, presented by Davis Quality MeatsGreater Vancouver Zoo and Stattonrock Design & Build, has a few ideas for you to get out and get active this weekend where you can social distance and enjoy activity safely. Whatever you end up doing this weekend, please ensure you do it safely! Wear that mask where necessary, treat those serving you with respect – let’s squash those numbers!

On now through September 13th, you can visit Maan Farms (790 McKenzie Road, Abbotsford) for Abbotsford’s first ever Sunflower Festival! You’ll want to pre-purchase your tickets HERE. and then put on your Sunday bests, grab your cameras and snap a picture perfect moment! You’ll be able to take pictures at different photo op’s perfectly decorated to trend on the explore page and then snip your own golden beauties at the U-Pick field which is grown with only premium varietals. Once you are done basking in the glow of the sea of sunflowers, grab a wine tasting flight to sip on and enjoy. If you didn’t snap it…did it really happen?? (Or if you’re like me, you’ll snap it and then not have time to post it because I’ll be chasing after my kids after that). Your Ticket ALSO includes EVERYTHING that Maan Farms has to offer!!! Corn Maze, Petting Zoo (Baby Goats), Barnyard Adventure Land (Zip Line, Jumping Pillow, Giant Play Fort, Tire Crawl).

Another Sunflower event happening this weekend is the Sunflower Sip N’ Stroll at the Applebarn at Taves Family Farm/Taves Estate Cidery (333 Gladwin Road) tonight through Sunday (August 21-23). Book your tickets now for this event combining cider and sunflowers! A perfect summer pairing! Tickets are $30 per person (Includes taxes).

Visit the farm as they start the evening with a tasting flight in the new outdoor picnic area, followed by a hay ride around the farm, and a stroll through the sunflower patch. They have social distancing protocol in place and are taking small groups at a time.

At Field House Brewing Co. There are a few tickets left for the Field Day Fest 2020 Sunset Concert Series this weekend.

You didn’t think we’d forget about the goats, did you? At Goat’s Pride Dairy (30854 Olund Road) tomorrow (Saturday, August 22) from 12pm to 5pm take a farm walk-thru! It’s a physical distance walk through the farm.

Come meet their goats! They have a fun day planned where you can learn about goats and discover how yogurt and cheese are made from raw goat milk to finished product. You will get the best experience if you download a QR reader on your phone before arrival.  There will be signs along the way with little videos linked to the codes.  These will introduce the farm, have a story, teach you about cheese making, introduce you to the salmon frolicking in the creek and more!  You can see the goats and ducks at play, but please resist the urge to pet them this year. At the shop you can purchase milk, yogurt and cheese and pick up your goodie bag.

$3 sample packs available for those who would like to try the cheese.

There will be a number of Fairy doors hidden on the farm for children to discover, as well as a craft to do at home.  The goats are all looking forward to meeting you!

And finally, the Abbotsford Gutsy Walk is happening this Sunday, August 23, however this year it’s VIRTUAL!

You can still register, and plan to walk with your family raising some funds for Crohn’s and Colitis. Walk any distance you’re comfortable with, however it’s typically 5 km. Plus, super great for you to get out and get moving!

This is Canada’s largest community event for Crohn’s and Colitis. Since 1996, Canadians from coast to coast have stepped out – rain or shine – in support of our cause. The Gutsy Walk has raised over $45 million for research and programs, all thanks to participants, donors, and sponsors who are driven to make a difference.
