The 2016 Quidditch Canada Western Regional Championship is coming to Abbotsford next month.  Of course, quidditch is the competitive sport introduced to us in the Harry Potter books, but it’s played for real, and it’s growing in popularity. Chris Radojewski is captain of the Alberta Clippers and head coach of Team Canada for the World Cup in Germany this year. He tells us it might sound ridiculous, but you really should give it a chance.

“I’ll say it in the corniest way possible…like magic, you’ve got to see it to believe it.  It’s an incredible sport that brings together really different dynamics from all different sports.  So even though it sounds corny, when you see it in action, that’s how people fall in love with it.  Whether as a spectator or a player, once you see it or play it, you’re just amazed and I can promise you that you will stick around to watch multiple games if you come out that day.”

He says it’s like 3 games going on at once, it’s a fast paced game, and it’s a lot of fun. And even though they don’t fly, yes…they still use broomsticks. It’s happening February 27th at Abby Senior Secondary.
