Abbotsford Police City Basketball Tournament starts today

Young hoopsters all over Abbotsford are taking part in the 6th annual City-Wide Basketball Tournament, starting today and going through Saturday. This is put on each year by the Police Dept, the Police Foundation and the Abby School District. Cst. Ian Macdonald says it’s a positive story for the community.

“Sometimes our messaging and even the medias pick up can be slanted towards those negative stories, and so we like to take a few days out and really shine the spotlight on young people who are making really good decisions. When you’re part of a team, when you’re very invested in your school, you’re already on a path of winning, regardless of the score on the scoreboard.”

He says the games are at the individual schools today and tomorrow, and Championship Saturday the games will be at Columbia Bible College.
