ORNVolunteering for Operation Red Nose can be a very rewarding experience. Dennis Sherwin with the Sardis Kiwanis Club says they’ve had a ton of positive feedback from people who have been a part of it.

“When you know that you’ve taken someone who is impaired and their car home, and you know that everyone is home safely and everyone is happy, it’s a really good feeling.  And most of the people that are doing this are doing it for that purpose…some of them have been involved in impaired accidents in the past, some have even had impaired driving charges in the past, and they don’t want anyone else to have to go through that.”

The Kiwanis Club is operating the program in Chilliwack this year. You can go to the RCMP office on Airport Rd if you’d like to volunteer as a driver, navigator or phone operator. PacificSport Fraser Valley runs the program in Abbotsford and Mission and you can find an application form HERE. Both organizations benefit from donations to the service. The first weekend of operation is November 27th and 28th, and it will run every weekend in December as well as New Year’s Eve.
