A team of 22 riders made up of local police officers and emergency service workers are getting amped up for this year’s Cops for Cancer Tour De Valley.  It starts tomorrow, and it’s an 850 km bike ride that stretches from Tsawwassen to Boston Bar over 9 days.The impact of cancer on the life of a child and their family is devastating, and many of these riders have deeply personal reasons for doing this.  Our very own Chris Coburn is a media rider for this event.  He’s been supporting this cause and doing this ride for years.  He says you don’t have to look far to find someone who has been affected by pediatric cancer.

“Basically, I think we’re all riding so that people that are affected by this won’t be so alone….I know it’s a very isolating experience.  Of course we’re raising money for cancer research, and that is key, but there’s so much emotional support that comes out of this, and I don’t think that can be measured in monetary terms.”

You can support them by going to the Canadian Cancer Society website and donating to either an individual rider or the team, and they will be making stops all over the valley over the next several days where you can meet them.
