(The Canadian Press) A raging wildfire at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley is throwing out so much smoke that officials are having extreme difficulty even estimating its size.
Flames broke out Sunday near a popular camping area north of Harrison Hot Springs and the one-hectare brush fire had leaped out of control within hours.
The Wood Lake fire is now estimated to have charred about 100 hectares — but could be almost double that size — and as many as one-thousand campers have been forced out because the fire threatens the only road to the area.
Nearly 100 firefighters, backed by numerous air tankers, helicopters and the Martin Mars water bomber are working the human-caused blaze.
