lytton fireWe’ll get an update this morning, but as of last night, a wildfire south of Lytton was over 1300 hectares in size.
It’s burning dangerously close to homes on the Lytton First Nation, which has forced evacuations.
The Cisco Road fire broke out yesterday afternoon.

It was first reported early yesterday afternoon but grew quickly. The fire is on the west side of the Fraser River.

“There are two helicopters on sight with an additional helicopter on the way. There’s a 22 firefighters currently responding as well as another 20 packed unit crews on the way.  The challenge right now is the fire behaviour is very aggressive,” said Fire Information Officer Kelsey Winter late yesterday.

She adds winds are gusting up to 60 km/h out of the south which is posing a lot of challenges for crews.

Winter says it’s far too early to know what caused the fire.
