compostThe City of Abbotsford is holding consult sessions this Tuesday and May 27th with local food industry businesses on the planned expansion to the city’s compost program.

Solid waste senior engineer Karl Filiatrault says there could be challenges for these businesses to switch over.

“Right now they have possibly a recycling bin and then a big garbage bin. And what they would be doing is replacing part of the garbage bin with compost bins. So they would have to take a look at the sizing, location, frequency of pickup.”

If Council approves the bylaw the program could start up this September.

You can find out more about the program and the consultation on the City’s website.
