missionbcgamesThe community of Mission is still reaping the benefits of hosting the 2014 BC Winter Games, receiving a $60, 000 legacy.

$25,000 will go to KidSport, $23,000 to sports grants and bursaries, and $12,000 to arts and culture.

Games president Brian Antonson says the board decided to divide the money up to support a number of initiatives rather than spending it on one big project.

“Somebody said why didn’t you build a building. Well $60, 000 doesn’t really contribute much toward a building. But with these other allocations we figure we can do a lot of individual impact work.”

In addition to the legacy, about $26,000 in equipment purchased for Games activities was left behind at Hemlock Resort and other venues and will stay there for ongoing community use.
